About Me
Koh Samui Property Agent John Jepson
Koh Samui has countless so-called property specialists, but most lack the experience they claim to have. Many have little understanding of complex legal ownership options, and some prioritize their commission over the safety of their clients’ money. Thailand does not require any qualifications to sell property, attracting many people in Koh Samui who are simply looking to make a quick buck in real estate. Be wary of agents who push you to make fast decisions or offer “too good to be true” deals. Reliable specialists prioritize long-term client satisfaction over quick sales.
Great Advice for would be buyers
A good specialist should understand Thailand’s property laws, including ownership structures for foreigners, leasehold vs. freehold, and company ownership. They should also be upfront about all legal requirements and fees. While Thailand doesn’t require real estate agents to have formal qualifications, reputable agents often belong to organizations like the Thai Real Estate Brokers Association (TREBA) or similar industry bodies. Trustworthy specialists will ensure you work with reputable lawyers for contracts, due diligence, and title verification. They should also explain all costs upfront, with no hidden fees.
What makes me sure I can help
I am confident that I can help you because we have successfully supported our clients for over 19 years. We thoroughly investigate every project we advertise and use our experience and knowledge to guide you toward the right decision. When we choose not to advertise a property or project, there is often a good reason for it. We rely on our local network to verify the properties we sell, ensuring you invest in something that works well and delivers the best results.
We recommend reputable lawyers, such as NSP Laws, to ensure your purchase is legally sound. Several essential steps must be checked and confirmed before signing a contract or paying a deposit. With my experience, I can guide you through the process, explaining what to do and what to avoid. I break down the purchasing steps in simple terms so you can make informed decisions. We always advise engaging a lawyer before committing to anything. The lawyer will verify the title deeds, road access, ownership rights, contract terms, and overall value of the property, ensuring a secure and worthwhile investment.
My experience and career history
I am originally from the UK and have been working in Thailand for about 24 years, spending most of that time selling property on Koh Samui. Through experience, I have gained valuable insights that have shaped my approach to property investment. In my personal life, these experiences have reinforced my careful and strategic approach to real estate. I prioritize my clients’ investments with great caution, understanding that purchasing a property is a life-changing decision. Every detail must be carefully considered before signing a purchase contract.
I initially worked as an accountant in the UK, earning my CIMA qualification, before moving to Thailand to work for Alan Dick Telecommunications. Now, I live in Bophut, Koh Samui, with my wife.
